Two Quick Things

First, I stumbled upon this trailer for a movie called The Golden Compass. It looks interesting. A lot of actors in it.

Second, a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed just came out. This game is going to be so good. Can’t wait. It’s made by the same people that made the Splinter Cell series (Ubisoft). A game series I love.

We finally got to watch Million Dollar Baby this past Saturday night and all I can say is Wow!, what a movie… If you haven’t seen this movie, go out and watch it. I’m not going to say anything about the movie itself for those of you out there that haven’t seen it; just know that this movie was great.

On the home front, we started planning Saturday for our landscaping. We went to Home Depot and thanks to Greg we now have a clue on how to prepare the soil correctly. Because we have clay (and sometimes caliche) in our area, I’m going to have to dig out about 9 inches of soil and mix in good soil down to about 18 inches. This is going to royally suck. The soil out here is not that easy to dig out. If everything goes as planned, Tommie should be able to start planting by the end of March, beginning of April. The ideas Tommie has for the landscaping are really good and I think it’s going to improve the curb appeal of the house a lot.

I got to organize our garage yesterday. We went to Lowes and bought some Rubbermaid shelves and a bike rack. The shelves were really easy to set up and they can hold up to 180lbs. per shelf. I even hanged tennis balls from the ceiling to help with parking. We now can actually walk around our cars without having to play obstacle course.

Ford: “No doubt about it.”

IESB.net: Could a younger actor play Indiana Jones in Indy 4?
Ford: “No problem, but Indy IV is mine.” Ford also added that he wouldn’t mind having a younger actor play Indy in future films, which is similar to what was done with the James Bond films after Sean Connery left.

IESB.net: Will you be doing your own stunts for Indiana Jones 4?
Ford: “At least some of them.”

Now this is too funny… Tommy Lee Jones has a movie coming out in February 05, Man of the House, in which he plays a cop protecting a set of Longhorn cheerleaders that witnessed a murder… Looks like the movie is going to center around the University…

Was posting a comment on Kathie’s website and got me thinking about movies that are coming up.

Went to see the trailer for Team America: World Police and that movie is crazy…at least the trailer makes it seem so…it’s from the creators of South Park so we’ll see how many people they tick off…

Mother’s Day

Well I had a very relaxing 1st Mother’s Day. We went out to eat breakfast and pretty much that was it. Hung out and watched movies. I really liked Love Actually. It was pretty funny and very cute. We also watched Shattered Glass. True story – pretty good. Made burgers on the grill………YUM! You know me…..ALL about the food!!!

We get our new fence started tomorrow…….excited and nervous……..I hope it comes out nice. We will post before and after pictures…..they are supposed to start tomorrow but of course it may rain the rest of the week so we will see. Jessie is going to the “hotel” for the week. She will have a great time in daycare playing.

Game 3 – Spurs vs. Lakers – grrr!

Watched a little bit of this game… Man, was it an ugly game for the Spurs. It almost hurt to watch. The Lakers defense completely stopped Parker and Duncan. Well, hopefully the Spurs can take game 4. I will be so relieved when this series ends… Oh, what’s up with Jamie Foxx (Dallas native), when interviewwd by ABC during the game, going for the Lakers…traitor .

Watched Kill Bill Vol. 1 for the first time this weekend. I liked it… I liked how it was a hokey kung fu film. Ah, the blood sprays (if you’ve watched it, you know what I’m talking about..) . Overall, it was a fun film…gonna have to watch volume 2.

…and hopefully only three to go…

Why oh why do the Spurs have to meet the Lakers in the second round? Well, they won game one. I actually didn’t want to watch the game. I get too worked up during the Spurs games, specially in the playoffs. Instead I did yard work… I did get to catch the fourth quarter though… What’s up with Phil Jackson flying the team back to LA to then fly back Tuesday night before Game 3? It don’t make no sense…

This weekend we watched Stuck on You on DVD. Neither Tommie nor I had watched the movie before and in a one word review: hilarious! I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time. and it’s not just the big jokes with the big punchlines, but it’s also the small little jokes here and there that kill you. Also, don’t miss the deleted scenes. Again, hilarious!.. you get the point… I recommend this movie for a good laugh.

We also watched Big Fish. It had a pretty good story but dragged a little in a couple of places. It was ok I guess… heh, I guess I’ll just leave it with “I wasn’t really impressed”…

To cap the trifecta, we watched LOTR Return of the King on Friday on DV….erm…ok, I know it’s not out yet on DVD but shhh.. All I gotta say is “WOW!”…what a movie…. After going through the “Matrix: Revolutions” debacle, I was a little hesitant about another part 3…but, boy, was I delighted that I watched this movie… great ending to a great trilogy…can’t wait for that trilogy box set…
